UNLEARNING LOVE

To be of the ‘spiritual’ is to unlearn. Nothing can be relearned because it is ‘nothing’. Emoji Like an animal, be aware (pay attention to your instincts), make the best moves called ‘discerning’, or selecting the highest move available. Learning goes into the ego; learning strengthens the ego. That is why intellects, scholars, have the subtlest egos. Learning gives them scope, learning gives them space. They become tumorous egos. Their whole being is then exploited by the ego.

The more learned a man, the more difficult he is to live with, the more difficult he is to relate to, the more difficult it is for him to reach the temple of the heart. It is almost impossible for him to know God, let alone true love, because he himself now lives like a tumor, and the tumor has its own life – now it is the ego tumor. And it exploits. The more you know, the less possibility there is for prayer and love to happen.

So, says Chuang Tzu, it is not because of cunningness; he is not calculating, he is not cunning or daring, because daring, cunning, calculating, are all part of the ego. A man of Tao is neither a coward nor a brave man. He does not know what bravery is, what cowardice is. He lives. He is not self-conscious, not because he has learned but because he has unlearned. The whole of the spiritual is a process of unlearning. Learning is the process of the ego, unlearning is the process of the non-ego.

Love in the mind is like dressing in overalls when showing up for your wedding. Right idea to show up, but something’s missing. The mind is but a shadow of love without a heart that’s full and open. Some are blessed with an open heart in balance with common sense. Most need to tread carefully with awareness and discernment of whether the heart is the major partner of the mind. Mind alone always finds it’s lowest level which is the mind ignoring the heart.

To argue with a person who has renounced the full use of their heart
is like administering medicine to the dead. Can’t find love? Meditation opens and fills the heart. Better face the darkness of the mind with the shades pulled down on the heart, and realize before it’s too late that the heart in it’s full light is the god hidden within you.
