Living in Harm’s Way
June 18, 2012
Truth be told, life and love are in ‘harm’s way’ in perpetuity. Love awaits at the door, always knocking, often to deaf ears, but trouble is always coming too, and often doesn’t knock. Sometime it comes in a ring of the phone, that unexpected storm, or the result of someones misjudgment. Like lightening, it seems to enter our space like a sudden crash! Life is a puzzle, and each of us has the opportunity to come to solutions or accumulate ignorance for a greater likelihood of more unexpected, unwelcome lightening. Life is a balancing act with whatever challenges befall us.
There is good fortune to counter the ‘bullets of life’ that seem to come unexpectedly. We have an infinite variety of choices to minimize or dodge being in harm’s way. Most unwelcome situations are ‘just passing’ but often are of our own making, and yet often not without a rainbow coming if we pay attention.
Early evening yesterday, while enjoying moments on the computer, a yell came from the bathroom by a resident preparing to fill the bathtub. Three of us became soaked trying to plug the gushing water resulting from the one knob controlling the water blowing off!But aha, after a few soaking minutes, we remembered the ‘turnoff’ near the street curb’. After turning off all water, we felt relieved until we realized that it was Saturday evening, and with no water for the weekend! Luckily we found the plumber company who had been here weeks earlier, but yikes, overtime charges were expected to be out of sight! Within two hours he came to fix the problem, and at no cost! Harm’s way often has possible rainbows.
Most all of ‘shit’ flying your way can be avoided by being ‘aware’ or conscious, and always using skillful means to navigate away from, or out of hams’ way. Get better acquainted with managing the qualities inside you that make life more ‘rosy’ than ‘why’s everyone always picking on me’, or ‘why does everything always happen to me’. Climb onto the high road, and have a better insight into what’s happening around you.
Try this mantra, ‘I know that I know that I know that I know’. Make note of that you’re paying attention. To know that you are there, you need an echo. If you can’t hear your echo, how do you know you are there? Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life.
Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”Life’s sweeter and easier if you continue to focus on the positive, aware and loving side of yourself – it’s your choice, listen to the inner echo! ~ Arhata
