Giving is Communication

Often the best communication is said without words! A baby’s looks of smiling wonderment, or their cry for your attention and comfort. A passing glance and smile of two people. A nod of approval or appreciation. An unexpected giving of a gift. Letting someone go first through a door, or a hand gesture for someone to go ahead of you with little to pay for in a supermarket line. On the road, there are many courtesies that can be given to let the other pass or stopping to let a pedestrian go first. It all adds up to good karma and to bolster the feelings of love and positivity.
If people don’t know what they are doing wrong how can they change? ‘Skillful means’ and kindness go a long way to affirming a dialog of communication. Be kind to those who offend you. Kind words and honest communication nurture both your life and others when it comes from the heart and mind, not to mention the calling in of unexpected confirmations of living a life with a flow of blessings.
We suffer primarily not from our vices or our weaknesses, but from our illusions which are perceptions that don’t confirm reality. Turn your anger, fears, and acknowledged misperceptions into love. Love by itself is a giving, but sadly there are few who aren’t carrying the baggage of negative thoughts and feelings. Say ‘yes’ to all of life especially for those who you are close to, but always taking the high road even if the other battles with their view of everything, including themselves, for that is their karma that they have created. Avoid someone else’s negative karma even if they mix negative with the positive if the don’t own it, and admit that they are being the victim, and don’t desire to make you the injured party.
Silent communication affirming the light in all situations is giving, and giving with no expectation of something coming back is to call in harmony from the universe. Give with awareness, yet even spontaneously without thinking, which might even be a greater blessing. You need not have any motive even to make someone happy, although that’s a good one. Spontaneity from love is an ultimate form of communication. Effortless love is real love. You can change your world and someone else’s, and maybe many people’s world. Even an unintentional giving can set someone else on a path that is part of changing the world for the better. That possibility comes from personal experience! Dialog with all of life and enjoy the harmony it brings to an excitement for being alive. Opportunities for giving are unlimited. Giving from the heart and awareness is a type of meditation.
