Incommunicado Communication
April 15, 2016
With technological developments on steroids or ‘growth hormones’, we have better opportunities than ever to communicate, but….
Not listening to each other is ‘incommunicado communication’ or in other words, poor or no communication. This form of non communication seems to be too common in life while allowing misinformation and misunderstanding leading people into false directions or information. The walking dead, small crowd, dark light, and defining silence are examples of words that have ‘opposite meanings’ much like ‘incommunicado communication’. All are ‘oxymorons’. To not be able to communicate by choice or just not be able to, is a state of incommunicado. Life works best when the giver and receiver are in tune like two dancers on the TV favorite show of ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
The real meaning with these two words as an oxymoron, is to not be able to communicate with others, or there may be situations or states that don’t allow communication with others making it difficult. An example might be when there are people who seem to like to listen to themselves while allowing you to talk very little, creating an ‘incommunicado situation’ where you can’t get a word in edgewise. Another example is showing the various forms of love, or holding back emotionally, physically, or spiritually is to create a cold connection.
In the corporate world of New York City, where I spent 20 years in marketing, early on I learned one of the secrets to dealing with people to keep as my clients/customers. That secret they called ‘KISS’, or to ‘keep it simple stupid’! Remember though – stupid is hard to fix! Communicate simply with honesty, and most importantly – listen. Be sympathetic to problems and issues the client has. Ask a lot of probing questions. Soft sell while meeting objections, and always be closing, but starting with ‘simple’ suggestions that likely get a positive response. In essence, communicate with honey of letting them talk while you do a lot of listening.
Everyone is guaranteed to have infinite experiences between ‘hello and goodbye’. What you make of it, may be set in stone for good or bad. However, if bad, choosing on the ‘repentant side’, it’s good to remember, not only is everything subject to perception, but anyone can make mistakes, it’s best to use them to find ways to learn from them while growing and becoming better at life. I’m reminded of an example of communication fallen into a zone of incommunicado paralysis of one of the hardest moments in life being when a situation occurs where one has to watch the one you love, love someone else.
Always available is your inner communication with your highest self, called ‘meditation’. Meditation prevents stresses from getting into the bodily system, as well as already pent up stresses are let out. Both happen simultaneously and we tap into the source and joy of what or who we are. As this state consumes us more and more, we become happier, anything we see, we feel, we look at, becomes more intense and more beautiful. A state of communication within!
