Be Ridiculous!
November 3, 2014
A factor often overlooked on the path of the spiritual, is to move outside of your comfort zone, or out of the ‘box of the routine’. The more you are, the less you are! Walking through the life of routine with a focus on survival, entertainment, and accumulation behavior is to deny what your souls purpose is. Life is about making the highest choices, or swimming against the rapids having made non awakened choices. Opening the mind to going beyond your norm with awareness will enable you to see that you are ‘less’ who you thought you were. Life ‘pops’ in you when you live above who you once thought you were!
Do and be anything, no matter how ridiculous, with compassion and awareness. Moving outside your comfort zone of course doesn’t have to be ridiculous, but challenging to what you have know yourself as. In Los Angeles, I conducted one group once a week called the LA Let Go with thousands of attendees over 15 years. It was about an introduction to a couple of dozen different techniques of meditating, as well as other methods to shake the mind out of its ‘looping’ comfort. Sometimes I would suggest that anyone could do anything as long as it didn’t hurt anyone else. Had one girl who insisted in being naked several times, and the environment was such that, even though it pushed a few buttons, all went smoothly.
It was a friend, and spiritual leader from India who encouraged his fan connections to be ‘ridiculous’. It was that encouragement that moved me beyond my comfort zones to begin my continuing free speech displays in front of millions on the Venice Boardwalk while pushing the envelope in using ‘titles’ as ‘hooks’ to encourage reading for what has always been provocative conscious insights. Ridiculous can certainly have redeeming value. In my case ‘free speech activism’ has become a passion, and most enjoyable, especially to meet so many open minded people among the majority who are zoned out.
Snapping out of the mind of knowledge and attachments allows love’s bliss to emerge out of no where. Be free and careful not to judge yourself, but examine with compassion who you have fallen in a rut with called ‘who you and others think you are’. Humor and the proclivity of laughter lightens the load of seriousness which does become a dis-ease. Be playful while keeping your eye on the present needs. You are the writer, director, actor, and producer of the life that you are here to seek in the super consciousness which hides within waiting for you to unlock it. As the famous singer, Lady Gaga says and does, ‘be rebellious’! Creativity is the greatest form of rebellion!
